Urad - Moong Dosa/ Udid-Mooga Polo

Recently I wrote a brief note on upvasa khana. This recipe is my first contribution to that new section.

I prepared this dosa last month on Ekadashi day. This is a simple dosa to prepare as the batter does not need fermenting. Serve it with butter or homemade fresh "loni" with any simple chutney. 

1 cup urad dal
1 cup moong dal
1 1/2 cup water
Ghee to fry

Soak both urad dal and moong dal for 3-4 hours.
Grind it into a smooth batter with 1 1/2 cup water.
Add salt
On a hot tava spread the batter.
Spread ghee on top and also edges.
Fry it on both the sides.
Serve hot with chutney.

Serves: 3
Preparation Time: 15 minutes (excluding soaking time)

Note: The consistency of batter is of your choice. This dosa can be prepared crispy with thin batter or even soft as set dosa by keeping the batter thick. My choice is to make it thick and pluffy.
