Vegetable Biryani

Long time back I used to prepare Egg Biryani very often. I always wanted to prepare it with simple vegetables and I could make it only last week. Well I do not use any biryani masala whenever I prepare this. I use whole spices from my kitchen. Both my husband and I dont like too much of cinnamon, cardamom and clove taste in our food and preparing this way helps me reduce or increase the spices quantity per our taste.

Being a konkani  "dalitoy" recipe is a must on my blog. I have seen people preparing this differently and I myself have two different styles. Overall this is a very simple gravy prepared with cooked toor dal and seasoned with ghee. I always wonder why we konkanis are so fond of this dal :). This is kind mandatory in any of the ceremony lunch/dinner menu.I learnt this from my vhanni (brother's wife).

I am posting this recipe for Suma's, a fellow blogger of a wonderful blog Veggie Platter "Delicious Dals from India"  event.

Ridge Gourd Gravy/ Ghosale Shira Tambli

Yesterday I posted a recipe for ghosale shira chutney. I took some portion of it and prepared this tambli. I like tambli more than chutney. I used chilled buttermilk which made this taste heavenly. You can serve this with rice or even just drink it like "masala buttermilk". Make it slightly spicy if you are serving this as beverage.

Ridge Gourd Chutney/ Ghosale Shira Chutney

Its been more than a month I did not post any recipes on my blog. I did prepare couple of interesting dishes but was held up with several things at a time. One of the recipe is "ghosale shira chutney".  Ghosale shira means the sharp edges of ridge gourd skin. I prepared this when we got ridge gourd last time. I like ridge gourd stir fry and I used the skin to prepare this chutney and also tambli. My husband was surprised to hear I prepared chutney with ridge gourd skin. Well, he did like this :)
